Hi all,

This is my first post here so hopefully it's in the right place.

I have owned my J1 ninja 600 for about 8 months. All has been great but over the last 2 days it have twice noticed a big cut in power around 5/6k RPM, usually in second gear, and it is accompanied by a weird farting noise! Not me ;) !

The only other way I can describe the sound is it's like when you get a piece of thick paper or card stuck in a Hoover hose and it flaps about making that farty wet raspberry noise lol.

Previous history is that it's only been back in action the last 2 days after a month and a bit sitting at a farm where I worked on it to fix a brake problem.

Could it be something stuck in the works? Or a lack of use kinda thing?

I do think it's weird it's occurred at the same time; second gear and around 6000 rpm. But it doesn't always happen and otherwise runs fine so a bit miffed!

Cheers!

when u say died. Do u mean turned off to the point where u had to pull over and took a second to fire back up or died but then started back up before had to pull over ? The wet raspberry sound is fuel loading into the bike and not firing probably. I don't exactly tell u where to go start. These issues are figured out by me riding but I'm sure blue ghost will have a better idea but I think u got a firing issue. Lose connector. Plug wire bad plugs. Or combination of

thanks for the advice all!

i ended up changing all the spark plugs which as well as two of the coils.

I have two more coils arriving this week so that will be the whole set replaced.

She's still a little sluggish in delivering power at times but there's a noticeable improvement after the two new coils and hopefully this will disappear after the final new two are put in.
