hi guys... got a bit puzzled by my 650 er-6f tonight
would not start

turning on the ignition key sets off the usual humming routine & visual displays
pushing the start button gets the relay clicking and the fuel pump going... but no ignition

i had parked the bike after a short, smooth drive... and then it would not restart
what is going on?

Sounds like the battery voltage is low. Check the voltage - should be 12.7V if it's 100%. Charge it at an appropriate rate overnight and try again.

Batteries can just die unexpectedly, so it may have to be replaced if it won't hold a charge or give adequate cranking power.

flip your kickstand up and down a few times and the run kill switch as well. If the lights etc are on and the fuel pump runs it probably a safety that's stuck. Even put the bike in neutral and roll the bike forward an inch or two. It's not very common but I have seen in before. That's of course if you battery didn't drop a cell or just drain due to a stuck relay etc.

yes, i did that first when it would not start
kick stand, kill switch...
rocked the bike repeatedly, suspecting the vehicle-down sensor being sticky
did not help... now starting troubleshooting with the battery

got some news... first of all, thanks a lot guys, for your suggestions
but the fully charged battery did not help :-(

among sensors and switches, decided then to start with the kick stand switch... easiest to access
when flipped the switch clicks... but park position or drive position, same thing, would not start

then thought of trying with the stand at 45 degrees, like on the pic attached... and the engine roared! :)
after that, everything back to normal... i guess starting with the stand half folded must have reset the electronics

Glad you figured it out! Odd issue there.

The switch it is. Byte gets the win.
