I am starting this thread because i would like to know how everyone feels about bike gear. I see alot of people talking about the gear they have and the gear they recommend. This is fine but i see alot of recommendations about safety gear that is poor quality. Sure alot of that gear is pretty or sick looking. Most of the gear is cheap in price but not all of it. So whats more important cheap or safety????

I bought cheap gear off Leather up and some other place.
Was spose to be waterproof, but bout as good as a cotton T.
It is armored, and i do feel it is much better then just pants n a jacket.
Can't wear the shit in heat....
Liners are out n vents open....
About 75 n u'll die from heat.
Also the seams fall apart n i'm constantly sewing shit.
I'll be going back to Decent leathers next year....
Right now in this 90 degree heat n humidity...
It's shorts n a T n drive a safe as I can.
Not smart, but i been doing it for 40 years....

I like to find a happy balance between the two as i can't afford £1000 on one set of leathers. But I have a lot of rst gear and its all well priced. Looking around bsb paddocks it can't be poor quality the amount of pros in it. Good buy all gear gloves leathers and textils. But a also have wise gear and that's falling apart :(

Safety is my priority, want to ride for a long time to come. Have a scorpion 1100 helmet, dot n ece approved. Joe rocket textile pants lined with Kevlar , a leather armoured jacket( weighs 20 pounds/feels like it). A mesh/textile jacket with soft armour. Two different pairs of boots over the ankle with reinforced ankles n shifting spots. A pair of alpine stars gauntlet gloves with carbon fibre on the knuckles. And I always pay full attention cause even the best gear can't always save your ass !

I agree with Indie but I need a happy medium. I cannot afford super expensive. But I cannot and will not afford cheap. That will be way more expensive.

I got an Bell vortex helmet, Alpinestars tr-pAir jacket, Alpine stars short glove with Kevlar and TCX boots. Next purchase will be textile overpants or jeans haven't decided

That's great gear. If you ride you have to be safe. Don't just buy it because it's cheap. I mean research something first. You don't need to buy a full leather suit just to ride to work when a good pair of pants half the price will work. Just know your riding style and buy gear for that and do your research first.
