???Help! I am working on shimming my needles. I started with 2 #6 stainless steel washers, then went to one. Both times when I started my bike it ran like crap. It was OK for about 30 seconds then it was like it wasn't getting enough fuel. I noticed that there is a small hole in the bottom of the hard plastic piece beside where the needle sits. The circumfrence of the washer looks like it was blocking the hole.

Yeah that would be the best guess. When i was shimming i used number 4 washers they fit on there perfectly w/o blocking that little hole. Blocking that would mess with the vacuum.

What have you done to your bike. Just an exhaust?

No exhaust yet. Just stock as far as the engine goes. I have done a few cosmetic mods. Sailor, where did you get your washers? Were they brass or stainless?

Mail away Joe!! LOL...That's crazy cheap, I didn't check out the shipping though. You could try faxing, but I don't have a "virtual" fax machine. HAHA.

Ok got the correct washers. Right now I have 3 on each needle. It sounds great with no dead spots and smooth, should I leave it?

I haven't tried 2 yet, just statred w/ 3. I was wondering if there was a big difference. Reading on other forums and some say with two it's better but still a little flat. A couple said with three it's a tiny bit rich in the mid range. BTW it's still on the stand and it's getting late. So I'm going to finish tomorrow.

All I can say is WOW!! I finished up tonight and rode up the street and back. This makes a huge difference in pick up. If you haven't done this yet do it, the farings are not that hard to take off.

So the OD should be 5/16, right. So what should the ID be? I was looking at our bench stock for some washers and we have several diff sizes. And what about the thickness? I have saw several people saying use two, or three or maybe four?

Thanks R D. I got the 5/16 from the link posted from joeRWMN. I had our supply guy look up the specs from a stock number for a washer close to 5/16 that I found. The hole diameter is 0.125 inches, and OD 0.307 inches and thickness 0.016 inches. Aluminum alloy 2024 - Chromate coating. I know this is alot of numbers, can if someone could tell me if this is close.
