I'm looking at a advertisement for a set of headers and in the description it has "Manufactured from high grade 304 stainless steel."

Question... 304 is high grade?

What would the stock headers on my bike be made from? Also is anyone with metal work ability able to look at the ad and see if they can tell me about the quality of the product?

Thanks

Felix

Well, i'm looking for a cheap version... headers for my bike are EXPENSIVE! I just want the cat gone, but I don't want to butcher my own exhaust.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KAWASAKI-ZX6R-NINJA-07-EXHAUST-HEADERS-MUFFLER-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem45ed1a521bQQitemZ300330668571QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_572wt_939

There are some stock used headers for sale in Denver for 230 bucks, OEM are over 800!!!

Then I just need to pay someone to butcher them... or I risk it and buy the 'custom' headers.

Its that shipping thats gonna kill ya, my GSXR exhaust cost me over $120 to get it shipped, and it was only a fairly small box compared to the headers!

Thats what I was quoted originally too!! Then they came back to me and said it couldn't be sent because of customs clearance charges!

rofl. you don't have any junk yards down on that little island you call a country Felix? ;P

Id get ones in a wreck and butcher them myself before I bought new.

If I did anything like this id look in to local machine shops, see how much it would be to have a billet of titanium or stainless cnc'd to the specs. IE: hole diameter an such.

304 stainless is standard... I think.
