Just upgraded the tires on my 2011 Kawasaki ninja 250r to Bridgestone battlax bt003's with a 140/70/17 in the rear and a 110/70/17 in the front. My hugger won't fit anymore but i think i can modify it to work. The tires are really sticky and combined with the shock adjustment the bike is way more predictable and secure feeling. Upgrade your tires ASAP!!!!
Very nice! I'm gonna do the same size with my rear tire after this season. Was wondering what company was the rear hugger you were using? I also wanted to get a hugger but wasn't sure which ones work with the increased tire size.
Great choice. :thumb:
I put BT-003's on the wife's bike, a couple years ago.... made a big difference in comfort and feel for the road. And the 140 on the rear, looked much better than the skinny stock tire.

Yeah don't u need to modify the swing arm and stuff? I'm curious cause I hate the skinny tires on my 250 -_- how can I modify my stuff to get a bigger rear tire?
With a 140 size tire on a stock rim there is no need for a modification, however with stock gearing the swingarm and chain guard clearance will be very close. Reducing the size of the rear sprocket will slide the rear tire back so you may obtain a slight bit more clearance. Most 140's will fit on a 3.5 inch rim, but always check with the tire manufacturers recommendation.
I currently sport a 120/70 & 140/70/17 Bridgestone Battlax BT-45. They replaced a set of 110/70 & 130/7017 Continental Conti-Go's.
Got them on...They sound different..Can't put a finger on it...Want to get out on them. Rain is stopping me..I'm told thre is scrub in time...I'll post when I get on the road...
glad i seen this i just made an account to see the pics and i like it i was just looking for a tire and wanted a bigger size for mine great info!

I use a 80 grit sand paper to scrub my tires in.
Just sand all over ur tire (specially on the sides)....
Thats ur cornering contact area....
Then just drive normally for say 100 miles.....
Don't be to aggressive on the corners at this time
Need a reply like asap like yesterday lol is there a difference in a front 140-70-17 tire and a rear 140-70-17 aint that the exact same so i could take a 140-70-17 off a front wheel from one bike and use it on a back rim? Need to know like know anyone?
I searched that size n could not find a tire that said front....
Everything in that size says rear.
If it'l fit ur front go for it.....
What size does the rear take..?
i would think front and rear must be different by design, not only by size
front giving direction, rear providing traction
my Michelin Pilot Road 3 came with a factory sticker announcing clearly 'front' or 'rear'
Damn dude how many miles do you ride per year? I don't change mine near that much and that's with doing burnouts, track racing, etc. holy crap. Lol unless your buying Shenkos which get great grip but barely last.
You never know i put over 3k in 2 months on mine lol
