They may not be dead yet! If you're a fan of 2-strokes like I am (first street bike was a RD400, then a RZ350 - I'm old) you'll be happy to hear that the 2-stroke may eventually make a comeback. Cycle manufacturers haven't got on-board with Direct Injection (DI) 2-strokes yet, but snowmobile and outboards manufacturers are. Even large auto makers look to be experimenting with DI 2-strokes. There are some significant cost and performance advantages of DI 2-strokes for manufactures - hope they listen.
