:-X

Let me say that I can spin this any way I want, but in the end the result is the same: I went down.

Big (relatively) bike night, about 50 bikes. Everyone suits up and gets going.. I'm behind an older GSXR-600 who is behind a new Honda 230f Motard. There were about 10 people in front of him leading the group, this MF'er is holding up the rest of us... Go in to a couple corners like I normally would have, but he's so shaky on it that it makes us all slow down.. OK, no problem, back off a bit. Both the guy in front of me and I slowed back, but apparently not enough. The next corner, the guy decides he's going in TOO FAST, so he hits the brakes! That stood the bike up, made him go into the guys line in front of me so he hit his brakes, he did a couple tank slappers, washed the back end and went down. The whole time I'm on the brakes hard, but I've got it under control.. I'm not gonna hit anyone or go off into the grass or nothing, sweet! But then, when the guy in front of me goes down it snapped his mirror off, and it fell right in my path.. I had two options, either get off the brakes and lean (about 10' at 30mph, not enough room) or stay hard on the binders and hope for the best.. I stayed on the binders, hit the mirror and dipped to the side.

Damage to both the bike and myself is minimal. The bike has a messed up front fairing, obliterated tail section, scratched case and cracked blinker assembly. I have road rash on my knee (minor) and a cut/swelling bump on the back of my calf, I think from the foot peg. I didn't even rip my damn khaki's! Score! :p

Like I said, I can't blame anyone. I'd like to blame the Mo-retard, but the guy was just inexperienced and WAAAAAAAAY too far up in the pack for those speeds... It was just unsafe.

Oh well, you live and learn.. Flat black/street fighter, here I come!! :D

Be safe guys!

Glad to know your safe, Thats why you've gotta be very careful when on group rides. I was always very specific on any I organised and didn't mind placing myself mid pack or lower depending on who turned out that day.

That's basically why I never ride in a group. And if I am following another rider, I allow the same stopping distance behind him that I would if it were a car (3-4 sec.).

There are actually 3 types of riders, the 3rd is like Delta, those who don't have a bike yet but wish they did so that they could crash it, haha. (j/k) ;D

I'm just picking on you, you're like the little sister I never had.

And I know you want a bike soooo bad it hurts.

Travisty, glad to hear it's OK, and you're a great rider, I'm not gonna bother with "advice" things... But jank that sucker off his motocycle, slap him around a bit, and then march him to a parking lot and drill him on slow speed and high speed turns, both leaning, counter leaning, and foot-out (super moto style) for like two hours. (Arnold Voice) "You will not cost me an insurance premium increase again, in bred..." (Wimpy winey voice) "Oh no, please, please." (Arnold Voice) "You will not be a girly man, you will learn to handle your machine...." :p

man spooph i think ur the funniest guy on this forum! but ya id be at least remotely pissed...at him and at myself
I was riding too close to someone as new as that guy, but riding as close as I was to the other guys was no problem. The gaps we deal with were fine. I just can't get over the fact that the new guy tried to run so far up front in the group... And that I went down because of another downed riders MIRROR! lol!

Oh well, I've learned my lesson. I'll ride like I was, tight and fast, with the smaller groups and more experienced riders that I know can handle it... Next big ride, I'm out back, fuck that.

I found a set of plastics online to do the WHOLE bike for 500. That's what I'll be doing over the winter. I was hoping to be turbo'ing the bike, but plastics take priority right now.

Thats really hard luck Travisty! I would have walked straight up to the guy, grabbed his helmet and spun it around backwards on his head and then kicked him in the soft spot!!!!! No stuffin around when it comes to fallin off your ride!!

I'll do what I can, bro-han. Had to borrow the girlfriends camera last time as mine has been going on the fritz lately, but I just stripped and painted the headers on her Ninja 500, so she owes me. ;)

Thanks for the kind words by the way Spooph. I'd like to meet you too, you seem like my kind of guy. 8) Is the Vegas meet still going on? I could easily do that on the cheap if I stayed out of the Casino's, haha. Maybe just play some penny slots and drink some free drinks..

In all honesty, the damage to the bike is really minimal. I wanted to repaint during the winter and this just makes my hopes a reality, just a little sooner than I'd hoped.

Man, Felix's newly polished rims look swish.. I should really do that to my bike since the blue rims won't match anything on the bike anymore, haha. :p

You're gonna have to ask Felix about the meet. I think he's the biggest factor... :p

And I agree on the wheels!
