Welcome to the new Ride Report section.

Basic rules for posting new threads in this area...

You must have DONE a Ride Report.

You must be PLANNING a Ride.

Warning, if you post a report with no photo's you WILL be harassed for them :D :D

PLEASE keep the threads ontopic, posts that are not to the thread starters liking will be removed on their request by me to keep the threads clean and easy to read.

If you are planning a meet or race meet, please use this section advertise. If you want to do a report on the meet, post it up here!

Also, if you go overseas/interstate/down the road on a non bike related trip, please feel free to share it here as well, since it might give others ideas for trips!

Felix

p.s. I'll be searching and moving threads over to here in the coming days, if you have a ride report you would like moved, please PM me the link. Thanks.

It was also brought to my attention that some of the older posts/threads on the site, may have incorrect image tags, so images are not showing up correctly. If thats so with these or any other posts just bump the thread, post a link here or PM me to fix them :)

ooooo, knowing of a certain website who hold their ride report section in the highest esteem, be thar a way to port this script to NewNinja? I have not the know-how, but it certainly would be sweet!

The ADV Ride Report De-crufter - ADVrider

Also, may I throw out a massive THANK YOU for adding this section!
Hmm will look into it. But just a tip for now, if you plan on doing a large write up, want to do a few posts, start a thread, then reply to it say 3 times with 'Saved for future posts' or something along those lines. Then when you come to them, just post them as normal and ask me to move them up to beginning...

Just an idea. That said, I do all my long posts in notepad first and split them into multiple pages inc html tags, so I can post them all up straight away and I've got a back up... nothing worse than typing out a report and forgetting to hit submit hey Zan...

And you're welcome Spooph, you were one of the people that made me think of getting this started!

I'm over on ADV now, that place is BEASTLY to navigate, almost TOO big!

Felix

Good move Felix, thanks for starting this up!
Yes, that pesky submit button doesn't always want to work for me!
WARNING: Mega huge noob question imminent...

What is a ride report? The rules state that you must either be planning or have done (indicating past tense) a ride report in order to post here. Is this some kind of journal/blog type of thing, with pics? Sorta like "hey look at my pics of where I went" deal?
Good question.

Yeah basically that, decide to go for a ride somewhere, show your planning if its a long ride, what gear you're taking, route planning etc, ask questions, advice etc.

Along the way, post up photos, stories.

Once you're back, show us where you went, how it went, stories, photo's, lessons learnt.

These two threads are rather large but kinda cover all aspects of what a Ride Report is about.

Right on. I'll give those a read on my downtime. Thanks Felix.
I've moved the 'This is Canada' and 'This is Colorado' threads here as well...

I figure it's a great place for people to get the gist of an area and if they want to travel there, ask questions etc. If there is any other 'This is' threads floating around, let me know. I thought there was one for Australia, but I must be imagining it :|

Holy Crap, Indie went nuts in this section. It's gonna take me days to catch up!
Yeah, I had to dig up some old photos and scan them in!

I think it's going to be a great section to explore the world and get ideas!

I was wondering why your pages took so long to load up! Haven't you heard about resizing photos before? I swear I had this conversation with Audi the other day!!!! :ermm::angel:
They are resized... what you use carrier pigeons for your internet??!

Felix

These threads are the only ones that load slow! Plus the giant photos that Audi puts on here, and it gets a bit much!!! :p

While it is not mandatory, we are all pic hungry around here, and it also gives everyone else an idea of your location and the scenery available. You never know, your pictures may inspire someone to travel to your part of the world, and even meet up with you for a guided tour. Thats what we mean by this place being something like an extended family. It's exactly like having relatives overseas, and occassionally you hit up a cousin to crash on their couch!

As far as pics go, I use www.photobucket.com , and download all of my pics there. When you have downloaded them, pick a photo and it will popup with a link you can copy for the IMG code. Copy and paste it into your comment or thread and Hey Presto!!!
In any other section of NN, pics aren't required, but on the ride reports it's mandatory... :) There is also flickr.com, smugmug.com, picassa, all good services. You can also attach pics directly to your newninja.com reply.
