I recently purchased a Joe Rocket mesh jacket, for the protection it gives me, providing good air flow. But the CE back protector feels like a sheet of plywood across my back. I see a couple of back protectors are available to replace it.

Has anybody replaced/upgraded theirs?

nope, but I have this back-protector which I wear on the track, and I can't feel at at all.... T-Pro Body Armor Forcefield Ladies Back Protector - KneeDraggers. You can wear it underneath anything, maybe an option? Maybe you can stuff it into the Rocket's pocket?

Joe Rocket sells an upgraded back protector, that's actually made by Forcefield. Ever heard of them?

Sorry, I didn't realize it was the same brand. Is the back pad completely pliable?

yup, when I initially got it I wanted to test it out.... So I put it on and after a few minutes I would forget about it. Once I realized it was very comfortable, I had my brother whack me with a stick, and although I could feel the direct impact, exactly where he hit me, he had to hit me really hard for it to hurt me. It's a very weird feeling.... So even though it's pliable, it still somehow transfers the force to a much larger area... magic. Not sure about your though, being that it's significantly smaller than mine...
