Puig Dark Smoke Windscreen

Here are some pictures of my new Dark Smoke Windscreen. I'm glad I didn't paint my original screen. I'm happy with this one not only because it's dark but I can still see through it but because it has a little bit different shape to it. It was extreamly easy to install. At first I was thinking I was going to have to take out part of the dash board to get it out but it litterally slid right out after taking out the 4 hex screws that hold it in. I'd highly recommend this screen. Here are some pics. Feel free to comment or ask any questions you might have. I took these pics the day before my targa fender kit came in and was installed.

Looks good. Can you get an extended one? Also does it help deflect insects?
Nice work! Looks great! :D

I'm just trying to decide to paint or save up and get a screen, I've kinda already over done the mods budget, since I was going to leave the bike stock except for exhaust :p

Felix - I can totally understand that. I didn't expect to be spending a lot of money on my bike right after I bought it either. I think my downfall was this site. =) I see all these other great bikes and just have to do the same to mine. I'm just lucky my wife keeps letting me do it.

Red Dragon - I found out from another forum before I bought my puig that you can get an extended one from Zero Gravity. It's more expensive of course but at least they are available. I personally thought it took away from the sporty look of the bike. Here is the link if you want to check them out. They've got 4 different styles.

As for this new one reflecting bugs I don't really know how to answer that question. It does the same job as the stock shield did. They are the same size. The new one is just curved a little more and darker. Hope this all helps. Thanks for the comments guys!

Thanks for the link RoadRunner! Yeah the sport touring looks dumb. I was thinking of a double bubble that is just extended out about 2-3 inches.
No problem man. I'm glad I can finally contribute to this site a bit. Just took me a little while to finally start doing some mods. I took another look at that zero gravity link I posted and compared the double bubble one again to the puig that I bought. Honestly if you look at that and compare it to the pics of mine it doesn't look much different. They both have about the same shape. The only think I can tell is that possibly the zero gravity one might curve up a little higher than out. If that's something you are wanting because of doing a lot of freeway driving that maybe that's the shield for you. As far as I know those are the only two shield options for the '08 or '09 250R. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
nice! i was gonna buy that zero gravity smoke screen...
but i just think it's too expensive
i rather spend that much to get my fender done...however, i'm STILL recovering from the 40" tv i bought 2 months ago :-[
bad decision, though i love it...
haha.. I know what you mean. I'm always buying stuff too. Before my wedding I bought a projector with a 100" screen and a Wii with all the extra controllers, games, and stuff that goes with it. I wasn't cheep but man it's so much fun. I've been very blessed because even after the cost of the wedding and honeymoon a year later my wife let me buy my first bike. I can't complain. Life is good!
i think i've developed a "buying-disorder" these days...i am shocked every time i receive my credit card invoice. always hoping someone had duplicated my card that caused those huge numbers on it, but it never happened. and i really know what i spent on ???
Very nice windscreen...I like your tank pad too
hahaha it's nice to know I'm not the only one. Between bills, groceries, my wife's clothe shopping habits and my even worse habits we find ourselves with a pretty hefty credit card bill each month too. I don't know how we keep up with it.

Hey Thanks a lot. I like it too. The red ninja matches the bike well. After I saw it on Felix' bike I had to find one.

I don't do alot of freeway riding, I do alot of highway. It would seen like that shape would send the air up more (with those pesky bugs) I know I'm stuck on that, but I have to clean my helmet after a 30 min ride to and from work. Besides it really looks COOL!

The Zero Gravity sport touring shield.... yeah, it's more expensive, but it's worth every penny. Especially if you're on the highway. But even if you aren't, it's nice because it' so much taller than the stock shield. You can tuck down just a little bit, and get out of the rain, mist, tire spray, and of course.... bugs. It deflects almost everything.
Problem is, that the 2009 models are almost out, and the shield still isn't even available yet. It's been on eternal backorder since the beginning of the summer. And they keep saying it's a month away.... then another month away.... and again and again.
I was able to get my puig one easily. I think I'd rather do that than wait several months. Plus a smaller shield makes a sport bike look like a sport bike. I couldn't see putting such a tall shield on such a small sporty type bike. I don't know maybe that's just me. They make them for a reason though. Too bad they're backordered. I hate that. I waited long enough just to get my bike!
