We are talking US dollars here. As most if not all of you know, the price for the 250r keeps changing, and the bike does not. Here in the US, the prices for each year are as follows:

2008- $3499
2009- $3999
2010- $4299

I understand they sell alot of them, and want to make more money, with so little change to the bike. I personally think its GREAT for those of us who own 08's especially. I am trying to sell my 08', 5400 miles on it, with alot of mods for $3300 and I was having some issues. But I think that since they introduced the 2010's at $4300 plus taxes, fees, etc (OTD over $5,000 easy) I think it should be easier to sell 08's and 09's for better money then if they would have left the retail price the same.

I think I will wait til spring, when the fever hits, to sell my 08. People are going to look at 2010's and see how much they have gone up and think they are getting a better deal.

Thanks Kawasaki, keep raising the price.

Steve, I think their strategy has in part to do with making more money off the ninja, or simply decreasing the price point between the 250 and 500, or even better, the 650.... So that maybe they can start selling more of those, eh?

Spooph, according to this months Street Rider Magazine, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 is discontinued for 2010. So now if you dont buy the 250r, the next thing up is the 650r or ER-6N (Same engine).

What he said!

Me I'm trying to get one NOW so I can get the color I want and for a great price. I can stomach $4,359 OTD on a new 2009 but I can't stomach $4,800 or $5,500. I'm paranoid with used bikes all most bought a Black one with 3k miles for $3,000 but the guy got fishy and would tell me if he did any maintenance.

2008 - $3,499
2009 - $3,999 - $4,099 (Depending on color) If you got OTD for $4,250 Dealership makes 5% of the bike
2010 - $4,299 - $4,499 (Depending on color) So they are making 10 - 12% before all of their BS fees.

I think the 2010 price is ridiculous! If something falls through I will watch CL or get a Blue one. I would go after the 650r I like the look. lol

You all know if Kawasaki adds fuel injection to the US model, its going to be over $5,000. Most times, it adds about $1000 over carburation so $5,000 is a low estimate.

They would sell so many less if they did that, in my opinion. I bought my 08' CBR600RR with 2,100 miles on it for $6,400. I love my little Ninja, but the CBR is a badass machine and if you can get that for $6400 whose gonna be paying over 5k for a ninja 250....

If you want FI just but the Ninja 650r or ship one over from Japan!
With the shipping charges from Japan, wouldn't it be cheaper to just go ahead and get the 650 to begin with?

Yes! lol

But everyone is so cought up with FI. Plus I believe spooph was saying you can get all of the FI parts for about $800 - $1,000. If the Ninja was FI for $5,000 or more and I can just get a 600 for the same or $1,000 more just get a 600. I love the idea of the mighty 250 engine but you actually have to give us something for the price increase not a paint job. IMO

I actually was in the dealer the other day and got a chance to see the price grid which we are not supposed to see. The price on the 250 the dealer must pay has been as follws the last 3 years of the new 250.

2008 MSRP $3499 Dealers cost $3279
2009 MSRP $3999 Dealers cost $3749
2010 MSRP $4299 Dealers cost $3749

They only hiked the dealers cost once. By nearly $500 with no improvements to the bike. They could have done something to the exhaust or something else to the bike. FI is as Spooh has pointed out doable for $800. I don't see it happening for a couple more years if we're lucky since carbs are way cheaper for kawi. This last price hike was to make the dealers more money more than anything else.

The price one these bikes has increased by more than a 1/3 of its cost in 4 years. Am I happy about it? No. Is Delta? No. Anyone else? No. What I do know is we all like the 250's and are willing to pay for them within reason. But the price ceiling is coming soon I hope. I really can't see an MSRP on this bike being over $5000 on this bike in its current configuration.

Thats was totally rambling.

I believe your right Delta, Because a guy in my MSF course earlier this year had a pic on his cell phone of an invoice that said 3589.97 and had a truck freight charge of 139.00. I remember this because he paid around 4800 OTD and he saw this invoice two weeks later on the sale managers desk while waiting for something he ordered. When he asked his salesman why he was charged so much OTD, the guy laughed and said that they were in business of making money not friends. and was going to charge what they thought they could get of him.

That is so messed up. That's why you really have to know what you want and talk the stealership down to YOUR price. Otherwise, they get away with murder.
