yes, after some time. They are retards, and it's hella loud. But, try it and see if you like it... Just take off the muffler and go ride around.

Now, how does it hurt the engine? By removing all the back pressure from the exhaust valves, the valves, springs and such have to now work much harder to do their job and will wear faster - you can mitigate this by doing valve clearance checks more often. You will also affect the low-mid range power SIGNIFICANTLY. You're also opening up the system much more to influences from the ambient air temperature - not such a big issue on a hot day, but might warp valves/head on a colder morning. Hope this helps.
