Okay, well I talked to my dad today about riding and getting a bike and he said no. There's no way I'll be able to persuade him either becuase he pulled up all these examples of people who are best of the best who get killed on motorcycles. TAke the 9th guy who walked on the moon - apparently he hit sand riding his harley and crashed and died. Another one of his west point buddies crashed and is brain damaged now - playing with blocks relearning everything.

I know its dangerous lol but I still have this weird desire to do it. The main reason he said its not gonna happen is cuz I don't have control of the other drivers out there and what they do. Which, you know, I agree with, and he's right. So I guess I'll have to wait until I move out till I get a bike...only 5 years.....:(

So yeah now i'm out to get a bad ass car if he won't let me get abike ahahaha.

Patrollin craigslist all the time now lol. Check this out: http://hartford.craigslist.org/cto/910281904.html

Anyway any suggestions for a car to get?

Criteria:
Used
Preferably under (or close to) $5000
must be bad ass
manual transmission

You're not in control of others in a car either unless you've been struck by lightning and you miraculously get cool super powers enabling you to control cars...that would be sick. Just think, when you're 18 you can say UP YOURS DAD!!! and get a bike lol.

As for a car, I heard a pinto or a gremlin is fantastic for a kid your age ahaha

Hey now!! how about respect for Dad's opinion. "Up yours" is not very nice. Maybe he knows his kid is not ready at 16.
and if you are still livin at home at 18 probably not then either.
I say a Subaru! wrx :) safety first haha .Push the safety of all wheel etc. leave out the turbo part. Might start thinking about a job to help pay for insurance. That would look responsible !!

haha yeah.

According to my dad, I'm not in control of others in any situation, but in a car, "you have a cage around you".

And yeah when 18 rolls around....

And a gremlin or pinto?!?

Wrx is more what i'm talking about ahaha but all the newer ones (2000+) are still really expensive.

I see a very nice looking 1996 mustang cobra....guess I should leave out the part about 500hp when I tell em right?

You can get a decent DeLorean for $8000, I'm talking used but NIICE, a New one would cost like $30-$40k. Hey if you decide to get one I'm about 160 miles from the DeLorean dealer here in florida lol

Looks almost like James Bond's beamer in Tomorrow Never Dies. I think he had like a 780 or something. That is a sweet looking car though, idk how much the insurance would be lol.

My supra insurance is $2,500 a year full coverage and they're about to go up another $150 on that. It went down from $3,000 when I turned 21. By the time I turn 25 it should only be around $1,500. Insurance is a whore at your age!

Your parents are just trying to protect you from yourself, so don't be mad at them. You're young and have plenty of time to gain experience out on america's highways, so don't rush it. I think you are better off just getting a car and learning to be a good driver for now and someday you will be ready to ride a motorcycle.

I myself have been driving for years and at this point in my life I have an uncontrollable urge to ride, so I will. My parents aren't that happy about me riding but it's just a simple fact that I will. My mom didn't know I had a bike until I brought it home and said Ta-Da !!! I'm stubborn and will do whatever it takes to do what I want to do.

You just have to ride safe and think safety when you do. And of course trust that other drivers will do their own part to keep their fellow riders/drivers out of harm's way.
