Hey all, New to the forum as I stumbled across looking at various mods. I had been riding cruisers for years and sold my old Shadow and VTX to get something a little more performance suited. Last year I bought a 2014 model Ninja 1000 with 0 miles and got a smoking deal. Been riding this bike for about a year now and recently got into some mods and upgrades. Already put on fender eliminator, windscreen, tank guards, swing arm spools, and K&N air filter.

Looking for any suggestions or products for performance or personal touch.

Great bike Sixstring, and welcome to the site.
If you miss some of the sound of your cruisers, perhaps a set of black Vance & Hines Urban Brawlers for some added "atmosphere", and then maybe install a Power Commander V for some added power and fuel mapping.
The sky's the limit!

Thanks for the tip. Was thinking about Yoshi R-77 carbon fiber slip-on's and a sargent seat as my next big investments. As for small change I'm looking for frame sliders now, but want to add some color maybe shogun black with red alum caps??? Also want to switch out the green shield for a dark smoke, just too much green upfront.

Not old, just seasoned.

Hey, i'm 61, and like you have been riding all my life. I am selling my 2003 Honda VTX1800R because it's just too heavy to hold up any more! I went from over 800 lbs to a 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 with only 2100 miles on it! It only weighs in at 510 lbs. I had to learn to ride like a hooligan again! This bike actually turns! I freakin love it.

The best mods us older folks can do to this bike is... NUMBER 1. Murphs handlebar risers, https://www.murphskits.com/product_info.php?products_id=501 This one Mod turned an uncomfortable, lean too far forward, hurts my wrists stance into something I could ride for 100's of miles. NUMBER 2. National cycle V stream windscreen. OEM part# N20107. you can buy this on Amazon $134.79. It looks stupid, it looks like the Popes hat! Of all the wind screens you can get for this bike, only one protects you from the elements the best. I personally hate to be cold, and I live in Colorado. NUMBER 3. I own a 2011, it comes stock with a 190/50 rear tire. It really sucks so bad you can hear it in the next room! The front end feels like a wet sponge trying to go around a corner. Going to a 190/55 rear tire fixes all of the front end problems and returns the bike to neutral steering. I think Kawasaki fixed this by putting the 190/55 now stock on newer bikes. NUMBER 4. Sargent seat. Your ass, and legs will thank you again, and again after you switch, and it's cut a little narrower to let your heart actually pump blood to your legs, without pooling in your cramped thighs. If you are short like me, 29" inseam, you can install a lowering link to your rear suspension to lower your bike 2-4" to be more flat footed. Lower it too low and you will have to get an adjustable kick stand.
These mods made the most enjoyable difference to this bike and I would never ride it stock. I also have lowered 3" (with the 190/55 you don't need to lower your kick stand), frame sliders, Givi luggage hard bags, brighter bulbs in all places, rear axel spools, K&N air filter, billet alumium brake fluid reservoirs, red stripe on both wheel rims, and a cool tank protector sticker that matches the paint.

I hope this helps,
Steel
