Yesterday I was riding on route 60, coming from Robinson Township headed toward Crafton to go home. Up ahead I saw a truck on the right that started to edge out so I started tapping on the brakes, we made eye contact and he stopped, so I accelerated. As soon as I got about 5 feet or less from him, he pulled out and slammed on his brakes because the opposing lane he wanted, was filled with traffic. There was NO time to pull brakes or anything, my bike slammed into his wheel well, I hit my face off the truck causing my nose to bust my shield off my helmet and blood immediately filled my face and mouth, I went across his hood and flipped in the air 3 times coming down on the ground on my head, causing me to roll across the road 6 times into oncoming traffic. I have no broken bones, but I am severely bruised and sore so I consider myself lucky. When I came to on the road there was a double rainbow above me and it wasn't raining at all prior to this, so it was a miracle and somebody was clearly watching over me. I saw my story on the news today, it sucks but could be worse. If I didn't have my helmet on, I would have been dead. I'll be getting another brand new bike so I'm not worried about that, I'm just happy I'm alive and not paralyzed etc etc

Thank you so much, and yeah I know it is. Witnesses on the scene were amazed I was alive and the medics were surprised I wasn't paralyzed with how violently I was flipped around and slammed. A grown ass man jumped out of his car and came over to me, as soon as he saw through my helmet who I was and that my face was bleeding he started crying so hard and was like "oh my god your a girl?! " and he had to walk away because he couldn't contain himself. I'm so happy to be ok

Damn Girl, you got drama in your life!

Glad to see you made it with your sense of humor intact, if not your nose. So what kind of helmet/gear were you wearing?

Yeah I was making all the medics and doctors laugh, it helped me cope with the whole situation. Helmet is a GMAX, I had on my Joe Rocket textile jacket with full pads and I had jeans on and Shift gloves. Helmet has a scratch on the front where I hit the truck and my nose busted the shield off, jacket is perfectly fine and so are the gloves. They had to cut my shirt and jeans off though

I am really distressed at hearing this. I am so glad you are ok. I could bitch about the driver but it sounds like He just saw right through you .

I have done it myself driving, catching things at the last second of course without this outcome thank goodness-we all have but when the outcome is this, well just horrible.
Look straight at something and just see it at the last second or not... Our minds play tricks. It sucks! My biggest fear is exactly what happened to you.
You were minding your own business and riding carefully.
It is the risk we take for the love or riding.
But sounds like you will be ok after some healing :( . I am sure you will be hurting for awhile. SOOOOOOO LUCKY! Thanks for wearing your gear. Hope the driver was insured and you heal quickly. Hearing this actually make me feel sick in my stomach. GET BETTER QUICK!

awww thank you so much for your kind words! I don't know if the driver was insured or not, I haven't gotten a call yet from the police or his insurance probably because it's the weekend.

Glad you're alright! That looks like one hell of a crash, never good when you immediately taste blood :/ I think this is probably the worst bike accident reported on the site (respectfully) every accident is a bad one both moving or not.

You're not the dumbest accident though, check this out! Dumbest I've EVER SEEN! :p

Yeah, I know my accident wasn't dumb at all because you can't do anything when someone pulls out in front of you and slams on their brakes less than 5 feet away from you when your traveling at 40mph. Only thing I could do was keep my body limp and take the flips in the air and rolls on the ground without tensing up, which in turn made it possible to walk away without any broken bones

I gotta hand it to you. A lot of people, and we've seen it here, they get completely freaked out from accidents and buy a car. I'm surprised given your accident you're not completely psyched that's real awesome. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Have you heard anything from the guy who pulled out in front of you??

Thank you, yeah I actually went down to the bike shop today because they all saw my accident on the news and were calling me freaking out. I saw some other ZX-6R's down there, but once I get my check for my bike I'll just wait for the new 2012's to come out and get one of those. I would never let an accident take away something I love so much. Gotta get back on the horse and nope, I haven't heard anything from him yet. He tried pulling me off the road after the accident and a nurse jumped out of her car and freaked out on him because they all thought I would for sure have spinal injuries or a broken neck. I'll probably hear stuff on Monday

Glad you came out OK, sounds like it could have been a lot worse for you.

That gear paid for itself real quick! The only reason I can think of not to wear any is total ignorance, but I see it every day...

Heal up quick!

WOW!!! Glad you're doing well concerning the kind of accident you were in! I'm also gonna be the asshole and take a wild guess and say, if that guy in the pic of your bike was the driver...he's probably illegally here and doesn't have any insurance at all...

I'm from AZ and they are every where... anyway, I'm glad you're doing well and that your not scared to get back on a bike...

Thank you all for such kind words, it means so much! The one that was driving the truck is the old guy directly next to it, I couldn't tell if he was a different ethnicity or anything because my vision was all blurry from flipping in the air and the impact I made on the road
