My Trip to Maxton, NC

This Morning I got out on the road to Historical Maxton, NC to the ECTA
(East Coast Timing Association) Speed Trials. Not an eventful or scenic ride, not unless you like fields and pastures and the strong pungent odor of sh**! early in the morning. When I left out it was about 47 degrees, so my ride was a little chilly to say the least. But I prepared myself for winter flight rules (layers, heavy gloves, mask).
By the time I arrived the temp had gone up a few degrees, so it was now low to mid 50's with about 5-7 mph winds.
When I entered I was really surprised at the variety of vehicles there. Everything from trucks, cars, motorcycles, to motorcycle powered Dragster/Funny cars. I caught up with the famous RacerX of Dark Horse Racing in the standby line. What a cool guy. We chatted a little about the Ninjas and his quest to break the record. He had already ran once before I got there. I think he said he ran 102 mph. I rode around to find the other 250 Ninja that was there. The guy had a black Ninja that had only 636 miles on it (fresh out of the break in period!). It was completely stock with 15/42 gearing. I sat around for a while watched others run, took pictures a saw RacerX run 105.57 mph. Now I was a little ways from trackside, but damn!! if that yellow Ninja didn't look like a big ass bike coming down the runway. I congratulated Racerx on his run in the pit area, rode around a little bit then headed back home.

hahaha brilliant set of pics, I had quite a few pics of me at the drags like that, just pics of black tar...

That bike looks amazing, can't get over how low it sits...

I'm sure RacerX will be along to tell us how he went.

Thanks I am very moved by the support I have receved. I will try to fly the new ninja flag high.
One of the things I forgot to mention was, this was not the big time, sponsored, big prize money, commercialized event. These folks were there, from all over, most on their own dime, just for the fun and love of the sport.

A TRUE Motorcyclist!
Hey everyone .I just got home . Tired sunburned and happy.
Today was a very good day. I went 107 on my first pass . Because I shifted into forth to soon .That took me out of the power band. The next run was 109.7 mph It felt good and I think I could have gotten a little more .Still fighting a cross wind .But the bike went great. In 2008 108 was the top speed for a 250 ninja .Now 109 is Just a good run .

Yes this is the last vestige of grass roots motor sports. The whole premise is they Value our personal integrity . There is no money to win . So if you cheat you only cheat your self. Everyone dose everything we can to help out fellow competitors. Safety is first but helping someone achieve there goals is second.

Also today we had history in the making . Team Guthery broke the long standing track record by going .....264 MPH in the standing mile.
The record of 261 stood for 6 years before it was was broken . The cheers could be heard for miles.
twenty minutes later Bill Warner went 272 mph . I am still in shock .

I will post up more .later

Good job X! Only if the wind was a few more degrees to the rear, I think you would have set a new record.
sweet! Sounds awesome X! You shooting for 111, right? And 272 on a moto would be insane. I can't even fathom it! pass my congrats on to him for me please.
Thanks guys
I did bump the record from 104 to 109 so that is good. But I am still trying to beat my 110.3 speed .I know it was done with wind. The 109 with out wind is ore gratifying. Plus I can run that kind of speed more consistently.

I will go back in May to try again.I have a few more things I will try.
Sweet work man! 109.7 thats a skipped breakfast and baked beans for dinner to get to 110.3!
