+1 for the catch it while channel surfing technique, and I go out to see the title event on pay perview sometimes.
MMA has been illegal in large parts of Canada since the beginning, so no events could be held here. Just this past Summer my home province of Ontario changed legislation to allow MMA into Ontario. A lot of speculation about that happening based on the popularity and professionalism of GSP, who is Canadian.
Interesting. Did you know they recently held an event in Ontario (Perhaps UFC 117?) not too far back? I am pretty sure of this anyway. Joe Rogan (announcer) was making such a big deal about it. Now I know why.
In any case, the main events is really all that the UFC is- but Spike TV has some other leagues like the WEC on as well. There is also a TV show "The Ultimate Fighter", who my friend, Nick Newell, is heading to Vegas to try out for in two weeks! He was born with quite a defect, leaving his left arm undeveloped a couple inches above the elbow. He is currently 4-0 professional (fights in several smaller UFC farm leagues) and 6-0 overall including amateur bouts. It is really amazing how he has adapted his style to work with such a handicap for the sport. Everyone should google him!
He is a very humble, very inspirational guy.
