Re: Maxton April 2010

I was just curious. When you ran your 110, what size tire did you have on the bike and at what rpm? what do you run now? I remember you had done nothing to the engine yet.
I know this is probably too late or may not be even relevant, but I was doing a little research, speed based on rear wheel size & final drive. I understand the significance of decreasing rolling mass and resistance, but what if you are too small? Correct me if Im off. You increased HP but work harder for revolutions per mile.

Here is what I came up with...
if you run a 15/42 set up

a 130/40/17 tire circumference is (66.27) @ 12700 rpm the mathematical speed should be 103.40 mph . (100.99 mph w 15/43)

..140/60/17 (74.19)@ 12700 rpm=115.76 (113.06 mph w/ 15/43)

...130/70/17(75.92)@ 12700 rpm= 118.59 (115.70 mph w/ 15/43)

Do you think anything can be gained with the extra HP and slightly larger tire size?

Re: Maxton April 2010

The resr tire is just the thr last gear of your overall gear ratio. I was stock tires and a 15/43 gear. My 110 run was done with a tail wind. The wind makes that much difference. I was able to hit 12700 rpm .That is only like 500rpm over a 105 run

It never went to a tail wind.I was leaning over trying to go in a straight line. But 109.7 is very good

Re: Maxton April 2010

I ran the numbers last night . 107mph with a 15/43 gearing and slicks that are 23.9 inch tall .The Rpm was 11875. The 109 mph run was an rpm of 12186. the difference of 311 rpm. Not much . It is amazing how I am scratching for 50 or 100 Rpm to up my personal best.

This is a video from Saturday. My new friend Joel with the stock 250 brought his teenage son .He shot this video for me . I don't recall his name but I want to thank his,I love the commentary at the end

This is the fastest 250 four stroke in the altered catagory. It is my good friend Jarl.W .He built the bike himself. It is a 1998 125 honda road race frame. With a 2005 Honda dirt bike single cylinder four stroke engine stuffed inside .He has been working on it since 2008 .We hang out and help each other at the track.
He made the fairing this winter and it paid off .He went faster than the turbo 250 ninja. Bettering its record of 113 by going 115.Then removed the front fairing and went 112 mph .
