I personally own a 2006 ZX-14 that was dyno'd at 212 hp. I've done 225 mph on it. I find no reason to "make fun of" smaller bikes. I think what ever that persons riding preference is, is their choice. I find it completely arrogant to crack jokes about smaller bikes. There's no need to make jokes. It's obvious who has a bigger bike. So why try to get a laugh out of it? I just hate when the guys I ride with make fun of guys on 600 and 250. Even the 1000. There's no new for all of that. We are all riding for the same reason. To have fun.
That's my random rant for the month. Have a nice night.

I used to get stick when I was drag racing my ZX6R... people would say, why bother, buy a Busa... DUMBEST statement ever.

Point is to have fun and see what I can do with what I have! Not just follow in EVERYONE else's footsteps.

Same thing first time I took the 250 to the track, few funny looks and why bother stares, until they saw I had quicker corner speed then anyone else!

Each to their own! I'm on a bike now that is almost slower than my old 250! But I have fun!

Exactly. I mean, if I wanted to be quick in corners I would have gotten a smaller bike.
If I wanted to ride wheelies, I wouldn't have stretched mine.
Everyone has their own use for their bike. And for a guy (or girl) on a big bike to look down on a 250 or 600 rider is insane. It just blows my mind. Bc hate to tell everyone else that rides a big bike, those 250's will SMOKE A 1400 in the corners. Trust me. My buddy proved it to me.
The 4" stretch didn't help me there either. Hahaha

I catch flak from the Harley guys I work with about my 250. I told them..."any guys that ride anything above a 600 cc is compensating for their short comings." They laughed at first but you could tell they were thinking about it the rest of the day. Haven't heard anything else about it. Besides most people compliment me on my new bike and most people think it's a 600 until I let them know otherwise.
Disclaimer... I hope not to offend anyone on here with a Kawi that has more than 600 cc's. I just thought it was something quick witted to come back at some of the most annoying group of riders... Harley riders.

You know, most of the guys who are making fun of other bikes are usually the guys with the biggest scars. There's a reason for that. If you wanna buy the biggest, fastest, most insane bike out there....neat. I personally bought mine because of the amount of fun that I have on it. No, the 650R isn't the fastest bike out there, but it's a blast. It's my first sport bike and some of the guys that I hang around refuse to be seen around it because they've dubbed it "the jap crap crotch rocket".(to be honest, it's kinda catchy with the right cadence) What the hell happened to just being okay with having a good time? I drive a really nice truck nowadays, but sometimes I miss going way too fast over railroad tracks in a ford festiva. And then hoping the clutch works the next morning. Wasn't fun the point of the first motorcycle made? Either that or they didn't have enough parts to make a full car. Don't be a dick, just enjoy the ride. I know that was kinda long for just a response, but that really irks me. P.S. Hey hardcore Harleys, you're leaking oil all over my interstate.

eh, peeps, talking about how stupid it is for people to smack talk the 250, stop smack talking the Harley, mmmkay? Harley had their hay-day decades before "these new fangled bikes" ever existed... :p

Now now, having said that, I LOVE being razzed about my bike, and givin' the smack right back about the razzer's bike... In a group of friends, where people get along, it's valid and sometimes excellent entertainment, as long as the ego doesn't check in. I have no time for ego... :)

Odd thing Spooph, when we were riding around together, no one said anything bad about our bikes, generally just 'WTF is that thing'... and I found the cruiser riding crowd A LOT nicer than the idiots here.

I think the people on the bikes do the worst damage to the rep, kinda like dog owners...

Its funny now, I don't get acknowledged by sport bike riders (I wave at all two wheelers except scooters)...

Depends....

Some people are caught up in their own personal ego.

I wanted to be able to legally use 100% of my bikes power on the street! From a girls perspective there is something sexy about a guy that is confident in riding a 250..... Just saying......

Last time I checked you rode a motorcycle for the freedom and the comroderi didn't matter what you were riding as long as you were riding!! If your such as ass that you can't admire someone's else's bike regardless of size should you really be riding????

P.s some riders are just tools too!!

I will agree that Harleys are a decent bike I would like to own one later in life but it's the riders of Harleys (for the most part) that tarnishes the brand a little bit for me.
I ride with a lot of Harley's, actually I am almost always the only jap bike in the group. They have always welcomed me with open arms. But I also grew up with that crowd so I am sure that plays a large role.

I've ridden with a bunch of harley guys before that I didn't know. Well, I knew 2 of them. Anyway, one of the guys I know liked to crack jokes, but that is all he does. He just plays around, which is fine with me...

Maybe I was sounding a little harsh on Harley riders. However I have 2 relative that own them and they are complete opposites. Both are well seasoned riders. One rides for with a notorious club (if you know what I mean) and the other just rides and doesn't belong in a club. The one who rides with in a club has told me stories of how unkindly they think of our "Jap" bikes and probably get hurt if ya looked toward their direction. Their loyalty is with Harely. The other relative doesn't belong to any club and he says the reason he won't ride with many other Harley riders is because they will rag on ya "if your not wearing your HD underware and socks today". In other words he says that Harleys are supposed to represent individuality and freedom. But most HD clubs kinda take that away by making you stick to everything Harley.
I kinda of agree about that because where I live there is a HD factory and 3-4 HD dealers within a 50 mile radius of me. So everyone around my area rides Harleys. Well.... At least the majority.
I will say though when riding whenever I pass a bike I wave and most of the time I get it in return. So maybe as individuals they are kind and friendly. But in groups they can be a**holes as well.
My only fault with Harleys is that they are too expensive for what they are. Everything that's aftermarket (even foreign made)costs a fortune. The maintenance is expensive especially if you take it to the shop. Their clothing, gear, even a used one (with exception of some Sportsters) is just so freaking expensive. You really are paying for a name.
'scuse me as I fall off this soapbox.

Anyway I'm sure there will be a time when I'll run into a group that's riding Liter bikes and get laughed at for rolling on s 250.

No I agree with you bullet, I don't think you where being to harsh at all. I guess the bottom live is every group has its jerks. All and all the MC community looks out for one and other. I was raised with Harley's, I guess thats what pushed me to get a ninja. I like being the odd ball at times.

Bullet, I think you were fine. The points you made are all valid, and a large reason why I'm not a huge fan of the Harley crowd, business model, or advertising campaign. You're right, it's a name. If their bikes were competitively priced (technology per dollar), I would ride one, but not to "be a Harley rider". :)

I've started waiving at scooters as well. They need love as well in their ignorance....

Harley's are awesome! I love them. I love how tuff and American they look and sound. My dad has a night train. And yes, they are over priced. You are only paying for the name. But c'mon. It's a Harley. It's ALMOST worth it. It's kinda like buying a $120,000 Porche. Even though the new 60,000 corvettes can SMOKE the Porche. But it's a Porche.
But back to the topic, I waved at a scooter today. He ended up pullin up next to me and waved me over. We pulled over and talked about each others ride for about 20 minutes. He told me how funny he found it that I actually acknowledged him. All in all, he was a cool guy. Just goes to show how when you disrespect the bike someone is on, your may be disrespecting a really cool person.
