So I signed up for Team Oregon (MSC), I'm trying to see what I need before I show up to class. Thus, I am starting to get confused. I don't plan on bringing my bike to class (if they're gonna let me learn on a beater that I can drop, that's fine with me!) but I will most likely purchase prior to class.
Do I need to show up to TeamOregon with my learner's permit? Or can I just show up with my valid Oregon license (no motorcycle anything)?
Does Team Oregon cover my endorsement...?
"Get your motorcycle license! BRT meets Oregon’s mandatory training requirements for riders age 40 and under. Driver and Motor Vehicles (DMV) waives the state knowledge and on-cycle skill tests for any rider who successfully complete the course."-Team Oregon
So I'll still pay the endrosement fee to the DMV when I choose to change my license? Do I have to pay anything else to change my license?DMV says $87 to "upgrade an existing license".What is the class paying for? No additional testing, but yes additional fees?
Will I be doing a new plate or a plate transfer? (Buying used from a private seller in the same state with a clean title)
Can I title the vehicle (or apply insurance) before I'm licensed?I would think parents must title their kids' bikes when they're not licensed themselves. Can I insure a bike before I'm licensed? What if it gets stolen from my parking lot?
When I purchase from the private seller, are there additional fees or taxes to walk away from the seller with the bike, before visiting the DMV? The price quoted is just a flat price, right? I cover all the changing paperwork, etc, on my own time (and my own dime).
Thanks for helping me unpack all these details! I would like to be as prepared as possible on the money front. Surprise fees are never fun!
