I am new to motorcycling (1 season) and want to start working on my own moto when needed. Can you submit a list of up to (5) maintenance/Mods you would recommend for a new rider? Let's leave out the obvious ones like: oil change, topping off of fluids, filter change ... etc.

The first thing that I would recommend any new rider who wants to start working on his/her own bike is a Service Manual. Having one readily available to you at all times, will save you a lot of time and money.

Other things you will need;

A good set of tools (to many others to list, some will be determined by the level of maintenance you will be doing but, a torque wrench and impact wrench is highly recommended)

Front and rear stands or other type of lift

Small Air compressor

Two vacuum gauges

Brake Bleeder

Tie down straps

Small parts (start amassing stuff like cotter pins, plastic rivets, well nuts, screws, bolts, light bulbs replacement cables & hoses)
