Is a jetkit absolutely needed after installing a slip on exhaust?

Freak, you do run the risk of damage, burning a valve, due to running lean.

Honestly, you'll be much more disappointed with how the bike rides, before the damage starts being done... If you aim at having the sickest bike, you're gonna have to start getting used to playing with the internals of the bike, and the writeups on here are plenty good. Give yourself plenty of time, and take baby steps. When I first started playing with the ninja, it took me 2 hours to take the fairings off... Now it's second nature, and I usually have them off within 15 minutes...

Do yourself a favor, shim the carbs. Once you're ready for the exhaust, look up Gummybear's post on re-jetting the needles - some really good, detailed stuff.

Have confidence in yourself. You can do it, just take your time, have a brew, and don't ever, ever get rushed.
