I have never owned any HID's but I have installed them on a in-laws Tahoe. We had to bypass the the day time running lights because the HID's needed a switch to turn on so they would not flicker. I already looked through the search and couldn't find any topic on installation just a bunch of links to other companies and info on HID's.

So how did you bypass the all time running lights for HID's or did you have to? Do you use halogens durring the day but switch to HID at night? (that way would be able to use the high beam switch as the on and off function) Please give me your thoughts.

HP's got some stuff on this, I'll try and find the link later tonight.

But really, if you have real HID's, and not really bright Halogens, you're going to have to replace the reflector-back mount, and put the ignitor somewhere.... I would also wire it so the HID replaces the the one bulb that's on during the day, and get a super-hot H9 for night to run alongside the HID...

The thing with HID's is you can't switch them on and off as fast as Halogens, so they make for bad brights - BMW actually worked a rotating circuit into their Bimmers for the HID's, and when the "brights" are switched off, the HID's tilt down... Pretty slick stuff...

Thanks for the reply spooph, BTW what do you mean when you say to replace the reflector- back mount? Are you speaking that I wont be able to use the stock rubber bracket on the back or something else?

You got it! All of the HID conversions I've seen use a different plug than regular halogens, so you have to figure out a way to mount the plug, because I doubt it'll fit into the original mounting points on the reflector/headlight assembly.... I know HP installed some on his Blue Beast, let me find you some info:

http://www.newninja.com/modification-q-a/where-to-buy-hid-hedlights/

Search this thread, I think somewhere between page 12 and 16? I would search, but I don't have the time, and I can't do all the work for ya.... :p

But in this thread: http://www.newninja.com/modification-q-a/4th-generation-%2808%27-on-up%29-ninja-250r-aftermarket-partsaccessories!/

You'll find this: http://www.lumenez.com/hidkits.html

And that's really what you're after....

Read through those. I know it's a lot, but afterwards you should know HID's and Halogens and their differences front to back.... And THEN, if you have questions, I'd be happy to speak some more. Is this fair?

Oh, and a good place to start when looking for ANY aftermarket parts is usually Delta's 250R accesories list - it's also a Sticky, she rocked it out so the rest of us can it easy... :p

Thanks but I think I will just change out my stock lights and buy some Nokya headlights for it. They look like HID's and I have them on my Honda Fit... however they are 100W so I have to be careful to watch for melting
