I take mine in on Monday, and they said it would be 162.50. Kinda want to do it myself, but i figure I would rather have someone who knows what they are doing do it the first time, because i really couldn't tell if anything was out of place. I will probably be dong most of the maintenance from here on out though.

You can also check craigslist if you have it in your area. I found a guy in my city that will come to wherever I need work done and @ $35.00 an hour. For major stuff maybe take to a garage but the lightweight stuff like check brakes, hoses cables, bolts blah blah its a convenient deal. And you can watch and learn as well while they work on the bike...

I'm taking mine to an old school guy in Morro Bay that does basic service for $75 & includes just about everything. He only charges $150 for service With the valves. One of my friends, at cal poly, had his done & he said the job he did was meticulous. He does track prep too. Completely redos the front forks, a least on old baby ninjas, and the bikes handles like on rails. Safety wire, braided SS brake lines, or anything you want. And unlike most shops, I can talk to the guy doing the work. Cheers

i'm taking mine in next week it's going to be $au226 apparently . dunno how they can justify it for an oil change . even though i'm a qualified mechanic i have to take it to the dealer for the first service other wise it effects the warranty. prob a good thing though cos i have found about 4 things they didnt set correctly when assembled (eg) gear shifter bolt loose and excessive freeplay in clutch so i think they need a 2nd go at it hahaha

Agree. They know what they are looking for. Even though I missed my 600 mile check up. haha. The dealership was booked out 5 weeks. So when the time came to take my bike in I had over 1800 miles on it. I just canceled and did some research and did it myself. Oh well. The bike run great. I do think though that my valves may be off a little and need to be adjusted. When I open up the throttle and get going I hear this wierd sqeaking/rattle/dry bearing/loose washer sound. Im not sure what it is. Maybe I should have taken it in for the 600 mile anyways. haha

Yeah... that definatley sounds like something has worked itself loose/out of sync. I actually hear something I think is similar to that noise when I get on it in my truck, but I just blame it on old age/high mileage.

i just got mine back from it's first service.!! it feels like a different bike , goes harder ,exhaust sounds deeper and more torque. not sure what they did on top of the normal things, but the guy smiled as he gave me the keys back and said your gonna love it now. haha dont think it was just an oil change ... any one know if they de-tune it for break in or anything like that

No not sure what they do for certian,
but I bet he messed with the air gas screw etc. that is normally sealed off due to emmissions. (at least here in the states)
Mine has a hole drilled in the cover now to access it .
probably synced the carbs. tighten the cables and chains.etc... enjoy!
