Hey fellow ninja owners, I've got a new 250r which is my first bike, so lots of stuff to learn!
One thing that I was told to do was start the bike with the choke on and let it warm up for a few minutes in the morning..
When I do that, it starts perfectly and idles at about 2-3000rpm for a bit but then it quickly increases to around 5000rpm and is screaming quite a bit at this stage!
I usually don't like it and flick the choke back and just let it idle for a while.. But is that the right thing to do? Does anyone else experience that and should I leave the choke out while it warms up?

That sounds exactly like it is supposed to. Sometimes if the weather is warm enough, you will not even need the choke at all, but there is nothing wrong in what you are doing!
