Bike turned off on me

This past week end I took a ride with my dad to mount saint Helen's, as we start going up in elevation my engine all of a sudden stopped and I had no throttle response. I pulled over and stopped turned the bike back on went a couple more miles and it shut down again, decided to turn around and go back home. As we go back it did it one last time. Once I got down in elevation the bike rode home fine didn't shut down once. When I got home I turned the bike to the on position and heard a clicking under my seat. Took the seat off and found that the exhaust servo was making the noise. Could that have been the problem? Not sure need input.
