If I place a bigger tire on the rear will that decrease my overall horsepower?

Additional weight can play a role in the overall performance of the lightweight Ninja. However, just a bigger and wider tire will not make a substantial difference in change of HP, however a heavier and wider rim and tire other than stock, could decrease performance, (slower response time, handling, rolling resistance, acceleration) but not necessarily affect HP, it just feels like it.

Is a wider tire on a stock rim possible and also increase or decrease anything as far as performance?

One way of looking at it is, take the wheel off the 250 and stick it on your push bike and go for a ride... come back and tell us how it feels.

I'm guess it's gonna be a WHOLE lot different. Might look sweet

I've done 64 convertions using 4.5" Ninja650 rear rim and 150 rubber so far.(Front wheel and tyres remainded same size) None of the bikes ever have a performance isue.BLION the weight of a Ninja 650 rim+150 rubber is LESS then the original setpu.Must seen to believe.

Wind resistance? None exsistance.
The bigger rear tyres are running in the front wheel wind shadow.So no difference here.

Here are some convertions to show of.

I can see them at work so its not that bad...lol

I want a 150 tire, but I wont payover 300 for just a wheel then the tire on top of that. I may put a 140 or 150 on the stock wheel instead.

In the mean time the convertions have hit 79 bikes.Here are all of them.The 80th convertion will be on Thursday 28th.There are some compairisome in the pics.

Mickey isn't with that team anymore.He moved up to a higher division.Left his Ninja 250 with Panadda racing team and joint Panpuan team on a NC30.Finished 1st after just 1st race with his new bike.

that's awesome, and indeed congrats on the win! Also, is that kind of riding regular there? Here you would get black flagged so quickly if you did that!
