Ghost has the BEST suggestion. I'd try the vice first though, and the hammer....

The few times my shifter has bent I've just yanked it back out using my hands.... :D Some people might say you might injure the shifter shaft seal that goes into the transmission, but I don't see how that can happen, being that the peg isn't directly attached to the shaft, but rather through a linkage. You might injure the bushing the peg rides on a bit, but I haven't noticed any major detriments...

So what happened to bend it in the first place? :p
