Yes, I used a cheap set from target. I think they were "Virgin" you know, Rickie Branson's company, and the only prob I found was wind noise from the "in-line" mic. I'm willing to bet, if the mic was on a boom, with a nice big wind-shroud (foam), they would work beautifully. The only problem with that is that they're simplex. One person talks, the other person can't, unlike a com system, where both people could talk at the same time. A lot of the bluetooth setups out there, like the Scala Rider offer a bluetooth intercom, that could possible sync to a cell phone/mp3 player for tunes.... Also maybe individually. They're really expensive though.
I have an amateur radio license, and my lady just got hers. We're working on a setup that will work for us, but the equipment we're using is only available to those with call signs, so unless there are a lot of Hams on here, I'd rather not post it up.
