Had a good time at the strip today. Went with a buddy on a Ninja 500. He ran good considering he outweighs me by 70-80 lbs!

First 2 runs he beat me as I ran 14.2 and then 13.6 with shifting issues on spray.

Tried just focusing on the riding and sprayed later in the run

Best pass was 13.3 @ 100 mph. Never hit 101 today.

Ran the Ninja 500...first 2 passes were 13.0, last pass was 12.67 @ 107.5 mph

Good day today. There was a Valkerie 1800 that went 13.3 too but never got to run him head to head as I was running the 500 most of the day.

Great job A
The ninja 500 is not stock It has some engine work and runs at Maxton. I wish I could have run with you guys. Maybe in March when the track reopens.

I'll find out how much I was spraying next week on the dyno, pressure was really low so I'll replicate it on the dyno to see what I was actually spraying. Its small but noticable...barely though.

Ninja 500 is a production bike, bike LOOKS bone stock and is under 500cc per class rule but it has some small motor work. Higher compression and some minor porting. Can't remember if it had any cam stuff done or not but stock pistsons, crank, rods, displacement for sure.

Eric, for sure you would have been in the mix with us. We all started in the 14s and inched to the 13s. Conditions were good enough IMO for you to go 13s on your bike as long as you hit all your shift points ok.

From my calculations . It takes 45 hp to push 500 pounds to 13 seconds. I want to go 12.9 I think I can do it.But the shifting is the issue. The gear ratio is to far apart . There is to much RPM loss between shifts. Letting the engine rev past the power peak is not good .The RPM still drop and the time you spend past poser peak is also waisting time.
Breaking into 12s with a 200 lb rider will take practice and a little bit of trial and error with the gear selection. and Nitrous.
