zandit, "the bird" is the official "Salute" of the advrider riding community... There's a bunch of them here in CO, so we "flip" and "get flipped", or saluted quite regularly... It usually starts with a full on waving of the hand, and then snap it to the salute... Some guys get really crazy and do the whole arm over the other one.... Both hands off the handlebars... But we always check for the ADV sticker, cause we don't want to piss off ignorant riders... And then again, there is usually at least one post a week on our regional rockies forum asking if such and such is an adv'er, and/or if they just pissed somebody off with "the salute"...
