Well I've got a couple of threads so I thought I'd combine them here and keep a online record of my drag racing...

I've had three separate trips out to Willowbank Raceway, all previous drag racing experience was on four wheels. I'll update this first post with each trip out. As of yet, all runs have been with the bike stock as a rock, running high octane fuel.

good start Felix, at least you had a realistic idea of what to expect.

Did you have much work done to your ute?

well done felix still some wicked times for first time on that bike!!

this guy in the shop yesterday came 22nd in a wheelie compatition....he did a wheelie for 1km and crossed the line at 153 on the back wheel!!

Well I'm no newbie to the drag strip, but for the first time, I was on a bike!

Had a blast, even if the night didn't go too smoothly. Got there before racing started and got through scrutineering pretty quickly so got a chance to sit and chat with a couple of other bikers. Only 10 of us in total and about 100 cars :|

Usually this would mean we were going to get lots of runs but one thing I didn't count on was car after car crapping themselves on the track and spilling gallons of oil! So many oil downs, wait for tractor, clean, tractor, clean.... Damn cagers Tongue

So I got 5 runs in, as follows.

13.7 @ 97
13.0 @ 111
12.8 @ 110
13.2 @ 111
12.2 @ 120 mph

My first run was purely a sighting run, main aim to get down the strip and see how it felt on a bike. Then I started trying, missed gears, bogged it off the line, hit rev limiter, shifted too early, too late, back off throttle too early... I wanted low 12's for the night, just so I can say I was faster than my ute Tongue But I'll be heading back soon to get some more practice before doing any of my performance mods. I know there is a low 11 in this bike before modding... 10.9 if everything is PERFECT.

Other bikes that were there; couple of GSXR's, couple of harleys, CBR, R1. One of the GSXR 600s I kept running against, was running 10.40s at 125mph. Best bike there apart from the full drag kitted Harley that run a few 8's was a streetable ZX10r running 9.1 @ 150mph.

Gonna have a look at some pics that were taken, might stick them up if they are worth it.

To do list, focus on shift points, slipping the clutch, rev's at launch, seating position...

Thanks guys! Yeah had quite a lot of work done on the ute, it had high 11 in it I reckon, but never got a chance... mid 12's were the best I ever got out it.

Heading to this as well.



Cant wait, had a blast and just cant stop thinking about my next trip out there. It has effected me a lot more than when I was going out there in my ute!

This R1 was straight out of the dealership.
