New Rubber For My Ride! UPDATE

After long research and contemplating, I decided to get some new tires. I went with a stock size because I personally could not see much of a benefit of a 150 or bigger on a small & light bike. However when looking for tires I ran across something that tweaked my interest....a 130/70/17 tire with similar specs to a 140/70/17 and a 110/70/17 with similar specs to a 120/70/17. Now I know sometimes things can be misprinted or fudged, But i had nothing to lose if these particular 130/70/17's were in fact only 130/70/17. The tires I ordered to replace my OEM IRC Roadwinners were the Continental Conti Go. At first glance I really liked the tread pattern, then the profile. By all accounts they feel very sturdy and look a lil beefy for a 130 and a 110. I have yet to break them in good.
Check out the specs. from Dennis Kirk.

Nice, new rubber. I like the new thin ones, you can barely tell you have one on.

Can't help it. There's not enough curves and twisties out in the country. 10-15 miles each way sends me past some corn or cotton fields. BTW I know what the roads are like in the OBX too.
Besides that was a good 10,000 miles on not so great tires

sweet tires Ghost. I've seen a lot of hype on the Go's for a while now. I think they'll be strong contenders to the BT-90's, which seem to be about the stickiest one can get with the 250... Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bike Magazine did an article in December 2008 (
http://issuu.com/motorcyclenews/docs/bikedec08
) on about 5 other tires along with the Conti. The Conti rated four out of five stars. It turned out to be the lightest and the cheapest in the test. Pirelli Sport Demon and Metzeler Lasertec.... 2 stars. :'(
The BT-90 is a straight up Sport Radial, so it is going to stick. You can definitely hit the track with them. The Conti Go is a Sport/touring Bias-ply tire. Continental says it is an all around tire. We will soon see which. I am not a racer myself. I prefer touring better, but let me find a track. I will definitely test them out.

I watch out for sand and avoid the beach road. I have a friend who dumped his scooter when he hit a patch of sand. Sand encrotches on the beach road, kind of like drifting snow, it IS right beside the beach.
No buggy tires, sand and cbr don't mix.
