Best product that I have found for chains is called Chain wax. It lubricates well and does not spin off like other heavier oils.

the best way to clean ur chain is to remove it from the sprocket buy a chain brush scrub it down with degreser let the degreser dry off then apply chain lube in big amounts put it back on its what alot of factory race mechanics do after evevry use or just replace it if it stiff

Man you guys are obsessive  All I have ever done is inspect the chain about once a week when I wash the bike (or perform service) for tension and cleanliness and wash if necessary,and spray on the chain wax. This stuff is great because it comes in a spray can and does not have the tendency to spin off of the chain like a lot of the other stuff that I have tried. Also it is fairly thin and flows into the links, you don`t need to use a whole lot. |

1st off it is a good idea to have the chain warm when you lube it, It helps it soak in a lot better.
On my dirtbike I use belray products. Also keep in mind that you want to lube the part that meets the sprocket because that is the important part.

Sweet. I plan on doing all my own lubes and maint. after the 600 mile check up. I just wanna break it in, take it to them to make sure everything is ok then take it home and have some fun.

no need to remove chain. I use what is called "THE GRUNGE BRUSH" - it is a 3 sided bristled brush that cleans the chain with ease. You could use WD-40 to clean, but its not recommended. I use a chain cleaner from MOTOREX, does the job well.
I also use PJ1 -BLUE LABEL chain lube. its a great quality for o-ring chain (our bikes). it doesnt fly off, and maintains good lubrication and longivity.

You should do it every 400 miles, more if you drive it really hard.
