Hey guys. I bought a 2008 Ninja 250 a couple of weeks ago and have been fiddling with it. I noticed today that there appears to be a hose not connected to anything, as well as a connection on the bottom of the gas tank that is missing a hose. It seems logical that these two should get together and hang out.
The hose is coming off the center of the carb.
The connector is at the bottom rear of the gas tank on some kind of puck-thing with a wire leading from it. Fuel gauge?
Yeah, I'm leaning towards that as well. It's getting crappy gas mileage, but that's more than likely due to the carburetor needing cleaning and an oil change. Looks like there wasn't a lot of active maintenance by the previous owner.
I even order a screw kit from eBay today, as through this process I have found 6 or 7 missing screws from various locations as well as a couple of grommets. I think its cute that some of those locations had zip ties instead :/
Still sounds better than mine. I bought this from a friend before he moved away but after all the coolant leaked out of the engine and it overheated. The pistons melted and the choke on the carb was stuck, so I replaced the engine and carb. Getting it running again has been a lot more work than I expected, I really wish I bought a running bike in good condition. I just want to ride...
Hmm... I shall not complain further about my situation! I think I have just enough wrong with it to learn a lot really fast, but not enough to stop me from riding.
So here is my question. I watched your video and I see your hose and what u believe it is connected to. The part you believe it is supposed to be connected to is the fuel gauge for the tank. So here is my question is the fuel gauge accurate? I can't really see what the hose coming out is from your video but I believe that hose does not connect to anything at all. And is actually supposed to run straight back and next to a much larger breather box smog hose on the air box. Hard to see from the video but I think that I am looking at the correct hose that I'm describing
Ayecapn, send me a PM with your email address. I'll send you a copy of the service manual. That will show you everything you should need, and where everything goes.
Well, that's the thing isn't it. I bought the bike 2 weeks ago, and don't take my road test until next Tuesday, so haven't gotten in enough decent riding to say for sure.
I want to say its really not accurate but I am not sure. It dropped from full to almost 1/2 tank with only 40-ish KM on it, but when I went to fill it up it took less than 10 liters (2.5gal) of fuel.
Also - I think my speedo is really over-reprting my speed, but haven't really gotten above 50 or 60kmh yet.
